Congratulations to the crews behind The Creepers from Sparks Film School Hove
Congratulations to the crew being The Creepers, from Sparks Film School Hove, for their amazing film, which we are delighted to award Film of the Month!
This film was produced during a February Half Term camp this year by young filmmakers at Sparks Film School Hove. The film focuses on a group of friends who are pulled into a strange world of a videogame, and highlights some great cinematography and editing.
From the Judges…
Firstly, our judges really enjoyed the filmmakers choice to switch between black and white to colour when the friends are transported into the games world.
“This switch of colour use really allows the atmosphere and slightly off tone of the video game world to pop, and helps separate it from the otherwise normal world. A great stylistic and cinematic choice here by the young filmmakers.”
Our judges were also really impressed with the young crew’s use of camera angles and shot types with their cinematography.
“The film uses some really fun and dynamic camera work to tell its unique story, such as in the sections where the friends have to ‘play the game’ in fighting or speaking to the strange hooded figure.
The crew have really used all skills at their disposal to create some really fun film here and it really shows how much fun the young filmmakers had creating The Creepers!”
Lastly, our judges would like to commend the crew’s acting performances: “The crew have clearly committed to their characters here.
The film has a lighter and comedic feel to it throughout, which the young actors have really taken and played with.
The film feels fresh and funny, and the actors’ performances are a big part of that. Well done!”
Overall, the crew in Sparks Film School Hove have produced a very impressive and memorable film, which clearly has involved a lot of creativity and passion.
Congratulations to all involved and well done on being the April 2025 Film Of The Month!

Film of the Month: Selection Criteria
To be selected as Sparks Film of the Month, a film production needs to be…
Original:
We look for originality and imagination above all else when choosing the winner of Film of the Month. We looks for films that surprise us, offer some inventiveness and challenge convention.
Interesting:
To be chosen as Film of the Month, a production needs to be interesting. We want to see what happens next; we want to learn more about the characters. We should be invested in watching until the very end.
Well Made:
We need to be appreciate the technicality in how a film has been made for it to be awarded Film of the Month. It should feature a clear storyline, be well shot, well acted, well edited and put together.
Made by Students of Sparks Film School:
Film of the Month can be awarded to any film production made by students at any Sparks Film School across the UK. It can be made independently or during film school sessions.
