Young filmmaker Kit is a film student with Sparks Film School Guildford.
We sat down for a chat with Kit about his experience as a young filmmaker and Sparks Film School student.

Can you tell me about when you first joined Sparks Film School? Tell me about your first day…
That’s a very difficult question. I was very excited and my heart was racing from the excitement!
The lesson was monster themed and I was obsessed with Godzilla at that time. I had made some of my own monster inspired films before joining so I was really looking forward to it!
What first interested you about filmmaking?
Well, I got interested due to a mix of Godzilla, and since I was four years old I was obsessed with The Lion King! I wanted to make films like The Lion King. I was so inspired by these films that I wanted to learn how to make my own.
How would you say your filmmaking has developed over your time attending classes at Sparks Film School? What kind of things have you learned about?
I’ve learned a wide variety of different camera angles and shot types. My favourite shot is a ‘Bird’s Eye View’ shot. You will see in one of my first films with Sparks, you will notice a birds eye view of the trip of main characters, obviously I was the villain! I have also learnt to not smile at the camera whilst I’m acting.
What has been your favourite Sparks Film School production you have worked on?
That is really difficult… The first film I created with Sparks has to come first, which is Mysteries of the Lighthouse.
I also loved making Hey You Haunted! In that film its about a school in which two monsters cause trouble, and the police have to investigate why so many students are disappearing.
What advice would you have for younger filmmakers, or other children interested in joining Sparks Film School or learning more about filmmaking?
My advice would be to be creative! Don’t be shy to shout about your ideas, if someone doubts your ideas then you can prove them wrong by trying it out and seeing if it works. Don’t be afraid to contribute to the process!
