A brand new Sparks Film School is coming to Greenwich and Blackheath
We’re proud to share details of a brand new Sparks Film School, which is set to open this summer in South East London.
Sparks Film School Greenwich & Blackheath will welcome young filmmakers from all over South East London to a new set of film and media courses for ages 5-18.
This opening marks an exciting opportunity for young filmmakers to tell their stories and unleash their creative potential. Sparks Film School Greenwich & Blackheath will offer weekly classes and holiday camps in film, animation and photography.
Courses based at Leigh Academy Blackheath
The new film and media courses will operate from Leigh Academy Blackheath, which is located on Old Dover Road in Blackheath. As a school that offers the International Baccalaureate programmes, Leigh Academy shares our passion for project-based and enquiry-led learning, offers incredible arts facilities and so becomes a natural home for our hands on filmmaking workshops.

Meet the Team
Sparks Film School in Greenwich and Blackheath is a sister school to our site in Dulwich, which opened in 2016. Both the Dulwich and the Greenwich & Blackheath schools are part of the network operated by Sparks Head Office. Both schools are run by Sparks founders Dan and Donna, with support from our Head Office team.
As a proud resident of Blackheath Village, Donna is particularly excited about the new opening:
“I can’t wait to meet and work with the local Blackheath young film talent. I know the area is brimming with creativity and imagination. It’s such a great community with plenty to do, and lots of stories to tell, and lots of ambition and heritage to explore. This has been in the works for such a long time, postponed due to Covid and other factors, so to finally be able to launch in the area I have now come to know as home feels so rewarding.
We’ve partnered with Greenwich Council, Leigh Academy and their students on a number of creative curricular film projects already, which has been brilliant. We’re really looking forward to opening up classes to the local community and to start making some fantastic films, where we can capture some of our beautiful area on camera! ”
