Easter Filmmaking Programmes
This Easter, we invite aspiring creators to step behind the lens and transform their ideas into cinema. Our camps offer a practical, immersive environment where students take full creative control of a professional film set.
Working in collaborative crews, participants will develop an original “Heist and Escape” short film, gaining hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment and storytelling techniques.
Junior Filmmakers: On The Run
Ages 5–7 (School Years 1–2)
Our youngest directors begin their journey by exploring the fundamentals of visual storytelling through movement and play. In the On The Run workshop, children collaborate to create an energetic chase film.
The focus is on accessibility and fun, introducing the basics of how a story moves from an idea to the screen. From brave heroes to misunderstood villains, students learn to express themselves through performance and simple camera work, building confidence while they capture high-energy escape sequences.
Intermediate Filmmakers: Operation Heist
Ages 7–9 and 9–11 (School Years 3–6)
In Studios 2 and 3, the complexity increases as students mastermind the ultimate heist. This programme balances technical instruction with creative freedom, allowing participants to manage every stage of production.
- Scriptwriting: Crafting clever plots with dramatic twists and “ticking clock” stakes.
- Direction: Learning how to lead a crew and block high-stakes scenes.
- Production: Understanding the roles on a film set, from lighting to sound recording.
Students leave with a deeper understanding of cinematic structure and the pride of having seen a project through from the first draft to the final cut.
Senior Filmmakers: The Studio 4 Intensive
Ages 11–14 (School Years 7–9)
Studio 4 is designed for students seeking a more sophisticated technical challenge. This programme moves beyond the basics, treating participants as serious practitioners of the craft. We focus on the nuances of visual language and the mechanics of suspense.
- Cinematography: Advanced framing, depth of field, and purposeful camera movement to heighten the heist genre.
- Narrative Theory: Analysing character arcs, non-linear story structures, and the influence of contemporary directors.
- Technical Precision: Operating professional-grade equipment with an emphasis on precision and intent.
The result is a mature, polished piece of filmmaking that reflects a developing personal style and a high level of technical competency.
