Hutchie Filmmaking Club

For students of Hutcheson’s Grammar School only.

Sparks Film School is offering a new after-school filmmaking club exclusively for Hutchie students on Wednesdays, 3:15-4:30. Over the course of each term, the young filmmakers will develop and grow their technical and creative moviemaking knowledge in this hands-on club. Collaborating in small crews, they develop their visual storytelling skills by writing, directing, filming, acting and editing a short film. At the end of each term, families are invited to a screening and certificate ceremony so the young filmmakers can share what they have accomplished. Select films will be submitted to children’s film festivals and film club families invited to the Sparks Glasgow semi-annual cinema screening event at Cineworld!

  • When: Wednesdays 3.15pm-4.30pm;
    April 17th – June 19th; Certificate giving and screening for parents/carers on June 19th.
  • Where: Hutchesons’ Grammar Junior School, 44 Kingarth St, Glasgow G42 7RN
  • Cost: £100 per Summer term 2024

Description

Over the course of the term, the filmmakers will learn about and practice skills around:

  • Camera angles and visual storytelling techniques
  • On-set roles
  • Storyboarding and script development
  • Art department and green screen
  • Acting
  • Editing
  • Additional master classes each term related to a new theme

In addition to honing their skills with short practice films, the crew will collaborate to write, direct, film, act and edit a short film. The rough cut of the film will be screened for parents and carers on the last session of the term when the filmmakers will receive their project certificate.
