At Sparks Film School, our mission is to inspire creativity and nurture young imaginations through filmmaking. We’re thrilled to have spent time in Athens with our the latest addition to our growing franchise network—Sparks Film School Athens, led by franchisee Konstantinos Kollaros.
Last week, Sparks Film School’s Director Dan Farrell travelled to Athens to deliver an exciting and creative training day for Konstantinos and his brand-new team of film workshop leaders. Held in the heart of the historic and lively Monastiraki district, the training day was filled with energy, innovation, and the stunning backdrop of one of the world’s most iconic cities.
A Day of Creativity in Monastiraki
Monastiraki, known for its rich history and bustling streets, provided the perfect setting for our Sparks workshop delivery training session. Nestled beneath the towering Acropolis and surrounded by ancient ruins, Monastiraki blends old-world charm with modern vibrancy. Its lively atmosphere, colourful markets, and picturesque alleyways are brimming with inspiration—an ideal environment to ignite the imagination of aspiring filmmakers.
The training day began with introductions and a deep dive into the Sparks ethos, focusing on the art of storytelling and the magic of empowering young filmmakers. Konstantinos and his team were guided through Sparks’ unique workshop framework, learning how to deliver hands-on, engaging sessions that inspire children to think creatively and develop their filmmaking skills.
Taking advantage of Monastiraki’s scenic streets, the group ventured around the venue to practice camera techniques and develop mini storyboards, using the vibrant surroundings as their creative canvas. The team embraced the opportunity to experiment with the practical elements of filmmaking, all while soaking up the energy of this iconic location.
Company Director Dan Farrell had a great time in Athens with the team:
I was delighted to spend a few days in Athens and to meet the Sparks Film School Athens workshop team. This marks our first international film school, and I’m delighted to know that our Sparks workshops will be delivered by such a creative and passionate team. We had a really fun day exploring our workshop approach, and i was really impressed by the team that Konstantinos has assembled for his film school. I can’t wait to see the films that they help their film school students create!
