Magical Moments For Young Filmmakers
Students from the Sparks Film School filmmaking classes at several of the London branches gathered for screenings at the Crouch End Picturehouse and Clapham Picturehouse cinemas. Along with their family and friends, they were there to watch their own films presented for the first time on the big screen. There was popcorn in hand, excitement in the air, and lots of big smiles all around.
It was a true magical movie moment as the students walked the red carpet into the cinema, posed for photos and then settled into their seats to see their latest film productions up on a real cinema screen.

Family members joined the Sparks Film School students for their red carpet moment and to watch as their latest films were screened for the first time up on the big screen at the Clapham and Crouch End Picturehouses
Celebrating Creative Collaboration
The annual screenings were the grand finale of Sparks Film School programme, The Camera Games. During the summer term of filmmaking classes, Sparks Film School students work on an extended, practical film project that showcases their learning and skills development from across the year.
This summer, the young filmmakers drew their inspiration from the world’s recent award-winning cinema of that year. From laugh-out-loud comedies to suspenseful thrillers and heartfelt dramas, the creativity and imagination on display from the young filmmakers showcased a huge range of young filmmaking talent.
Each Sparks Film School crew produces their own original and unique production to enter into a nationwide competition for students. The films are then selected for awards including Best Film, Best Performance, Best Script and many more, with filmmakers recognised across the various categories.
We’re proud of every single young filmmaker who took part. Your ideas lit up the screen and reminded us all why storytelling matters. Congratulations on some truly inspiring and amazing work!

During the Summer Term, each crew created their own original short film, developing scripts, designing sets, directing scenes, and even experimenting with special effects.
Sparks Film School: Filmmaking Classes for Ages 5-18
Each term of Sparks Film School weekly classes members are introduced to a new theme, which introduce different film genres, styles, and techniques.
Filmmaking classes run weekly during term time all year round, with young filmmakers learning new skills and experimenting with new ideas each week. Students work towards creating a main film as a crew, creating all aspects of the film together, inspired by the term’s theme.

Autumn Term: We Are the World
For the Autumn Term, Sparks Film School students will be producing more movie magic with the new theme ‘We Are The World’.
This term the filmmakers will be focusing on telling powerful stories, both fiction and non-fiction, with the stimulus being Planet Earth and the environment. Students will be looking at documentary, disaster action movies, non fiction narrative and much more.
If you have a young filmmaker who would like to come along and try out one of our weekly sessions for free, please book a free trial here or simply get in touch! We’d love to chat and see what we can offer your child at 020 7101 9329 or hello@sparksarts.co.uk
